The earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011 has not only caused damage in the Tohoku area, but also it has done collateral damage to the areas unaffected by the disaster. Tourists that were planning to visit Japan this spring, and some even in the summer, have cancelled their trips fearing the consequences they may face by coming to Japan. As a result, tourism-related businesses are now threatened and are facing an uncertain future.
However, there has been words that the tourism rate is going to regain its number around August, back to its original number.

I guess it’s to be expected that tourist numbers will plummet after a disaster like this.
I don’t know if Japan’s tourist industry will recover by August, but certainly it will eventually recover.
As the video points out, Thailand recovered quite quickly from the 2004 tsunami. That was a terrible disaster, but the Thais rebuilt quickly.
Also according to the video, visitors to Japan are mainly worried about the radiation leaks from Fukushima power plant.
That’s why it’s important for Japan to get ‘back to business’ as soon as possible.
In my opinion, it’s up to how earlier we can give correct infomation to the world.
Foreigners feel scared of invisible radiactive effects. Such fear won’t die out that easily, as we same don’t wanna go around Chernobyl just by a feeling.
August seems a bit early, but it’s possible if assumptions get removed with correct knowledge.
I think the area of Tohoku and Kanto continue aftershocks and scheduled blackouts now, so it’s difficult for foreigners to visit to their area.
But other area don’t be changed,so we should urge foreigners to visit to other area.In that case, japan’s tourist industry can recover.
In fact, the most popular place of foreigners is Tokyo. So I think Japan’s tourist industry don’t recover completely around August,but it can recover at least a little .
As Dale mentioned, I think it is very important how quickly recovering will be done.
Sometimes, Japanese people are said to be not being proud of our home country not as much as other foreigners. In other words, we don’t have much patriotic mind.
But after this terrible disaster, people who are living in this island are helping each other by sending supplies or participating in fund-raising. It was my first time to feel Japan as one country or like a team.
I hope Japan will recover from this terrible condition, and let foreigners visit Japan to see beautiful sceneries of this island.
