Palm reading is very popular
that it could be said the most popular foretunetelling. Palmistry reads your palm prints, finger and shape of the nail. From these information palmistry predicts peoples’ future. The idea of palm reading came from psychology. In psychology, there is subconscious and that was something unknown. To know more about that, people thought subconscious might come out to our palm or face. That is where psysiognomy and chirognomy started. However, palmistry is still called “fortune” because there are no concrete evidences to show that it is reliable. In Japan, The mother of ginza or The mother of Shinjuku is very famous palm reader. It is your decision to decide whether you believe it or not, but SHOULD NOT forget that there are no scientific or statistic evidences towards palmistry.

July 28, 2011The process of establishing Plate Tectonics
July 24, 2011Alfred Wegener advocated continental drift theory. He found similarities in the coastlines of South America and Africa. He found three pieces of evidence.
All continents at present were split from only one continent: Pangea. This time, he could not show the proper reason of continental drift. Therefore, continental drift theory was denied.
Oceanic ridges and trenches were discovered, and gradually the age of the nature of the rock retreated from oceanic ridge. Because of these reasons, the Seafloor Spreading Theory was advocated by Harry Hammond Hess. It didn’t have enough evidence of Seafloor Spreading. Geomagnetic reversal happening every few million years is recorded symmetrically on both sides of oceanic ridges. It became evidence of creating new plate, Seafloor Spreading, and continental drift.
The US made World-Wide Standard Seismograph Network (WWSSN) to track the underground nuclear experiment during World War Ⅱ. Distribution of the earthquake drawn as a line was found by WWSSN.
The Earth’s surface is covered by more than a dozen plates, and then diastrophism is caused by relative motion of plates. This is Plate Tectonics. We can explain continental drift, seafloor spreading, and distribution of earthquakes because of Plate Tectonics. A plate boundary is decided by line of distribution of earthquakes.
From Your FACE ~Physiognomy~
July 23, 2011
Physiognomy is the assessment of a person’s character or personality from their outer appearance, especially the face.
The most important part is your forehead. It tells you how big your parents’ love is. If your forehead is small, you have the ability to GIVE love. If your forehead is big, you have an ability to TAKE love. So, for a person with a small forehead, a partner with a big forehead is good because they can make GIVE & TAKE relationships.
There are a lot of elements to judging your personality in your face. However, I think a good face depends on your face balance or whether you are satisfied with your face.
Physiognomy is a really interesting way to think of one’s personality.
I recommend physiognomy fortunetelling on the internet! It’s very easy!
Notion of Critical Thinking
July 22, 2011According to this video, critical thinking is the skill to think and assess information in a more comprehensive way. Learning critical thinking also increases our ability to identify & reject false ideas/ ideology. When you improve this ability, memorizing a solution to a problem isn’t necessary. You can give yourself the tools to create your own effective solutions to a multitude of unfamiliar problems.
The video above is well-organized and easy to understand.
I hope you like it.
GPS routed the bus under the bridge
July 20, 2011A view of the charter bus that hit a pedestrian bridge in the Washington Park Arboretum.
The charter bus which carry the High School girls softball team hit the brick and concrete footbridge .The accident occurred because the driver was using a GPS navigation system that routed the 12-foot bus under the 9-foot bridge . The off-the-shelf navigation unit had settings for car, motorcycle, bus or truck. Although the unit was set for a bus, it chose a route through the Washington Park Arboretum that did not provide enough clearance for the nearly 12-foot-high vehicle. The driver said that he did not see the flashing lights or yellow sign posting the bridge height.
The accident tells us two points.
One is that the GPS should offer the route for larger vehicles base directions on general information. Second is that drivers always are careful to drive and need to obey all the rules of the road at all times.
The treatment of trauma
July 19, 2011I watched the video ” The Thin Blue Line ” and feel a treatment of trauma is very important because David Harris’ trauma caused some bad cases. So I introduce the treatment of trauma.
A number of psychotherapy approaches have been designed with the treatment of trauma in mind—EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Biofeedback, Internet Family Therapy, and Sensorimotor psychoterapy. In those therapies, EMDR is said to be the most effective to PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) ,so I introduce EMDR.
EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. The therapy is the way how the patient’s gaze is following the fingertip motion of the therapist while the patient is thinking about his traumatic experience. The eye movement stimulates directly his brain and activates the information processing of the brain. So he will calm down in somewhere of the mind in a short time.
If the treatment of trauma like EMDS becomes more common , the number of crimes will decrease.
THE DAY of U
July 19, 2011Do you know why there is ushinohi; The day of U(shi) in Japan?
Hirai Gennai came up with this idea. He was a multi-talented man; horticulturalist, writer, inventor, painter and copy-writer. In other day, a eel seller asked him that “Do you have any strategy to sell hot foods (eel) in hot summer?” . Then, Hirai said to the seller “How about post a paper; TODAY IS THE DAY OF U (shi [=ox]→ unagi)?”. The sign reminded people the common sense of eating “u-foods” to help them beat the heat. And people thought “Let’s eat unagi!”
Indeed, scientific data shows that eel has vitamin B, which effective to overcome hot summer.
So if you like eel, I recommend you to eat eel the day of U! In this year , the date is July 21th.
Bowling for Columbine
July 18, 2011The movie The Thin Blue Line shows the gun problem of American society. Therefore, I would like to introduce a documentary film, Bowling for Columbine, directed by Michael Moore. This film focuses on the Columbine High School massacre, and then discusses the gun problem in the US. Compared to other advanced countries such as England and Japan, the number of guns in the US is much higher. Why? Also, the number of guns in Canada is very high, but gun criminal is lower than the US. Why? From these questions, Michael Moore tried to research the gun society in the US. I think there are too many of the director’s opinions in this film, but still there are things we should think about. If you are interested in it, check out this film.
The culture of beer in the UK and Japan
July 18, 2011English beer has a long history and traditions. There are two types of beer, ale and lager, and in Japan we usually drink lager. Ale was born in the UK, and English beer has a long history and tradition.
The difference between ale and lager is the brewing process. The process makes beer taste different, so ale is sweet and fruity. On the other hand lager is bitter and subtle.
The style of drinking beer is also different. People usually don’t eat food much, only crisps or nuts in UK when they drink beer. They occasionally eat jacked potato and chips. However, in Japan, we usually eat dinner or something light when we drink beer. Therefore, Japanese beer has a clean finish to fit food.
Here is a table showing consumption for one person including in Japan and Britain.

Man arrested: Terrorism Fear
July 10, 2011
Daren Nixon
Daren Nixon was arrested, simply for listening to music on his way home from work. A member of the public obviously had mistaken his MP3 player for a gun and reported to the police. After getting off the bus, and not knowing what was going on, he was told to put his hands up in the air with two cops pointing a “real” gun at him. No weapon was found on him, but the police went on and searched the surrounding area. After being proved innocent, he was released only with a quick apology, but with a big stain on his character.
This incident would have never happened if the person who reported to the police did not have such a big fear towards guns. The informer probably had always been aware of guns, or else, this misunderstanding would have never happened. An overreaction to things can be a definite factor to misleading events.
